Brothers Brooke and Will Blair began scoring films with director Jeremy Saulnier’s debut feature film - the cult-classic horror-comedy Murder Party (2007) - with Saulnier’s follow up, Blue Ruin (2013), establishing them as distinct, sought-after voices in film music. The Blairs would continue a long-term collaboration with Saulnier scoring Green Room, Hold the Dark and the Emmy-winning Rebel Ridge (2024), with premieres and recognition at Sundance, Cannes and the Toronto Independent Film Festival.
The brothers frequently work with their eldest sibling, writer-actor-director Macon Blair, composing scores for his adaptation of The Toxic Avenger (2025), Idiots (2026) and his debut feature I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore which won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
Other notable projects include director Kevin McMullin’s Low Tide, Jamie Dagg’s Sweet Virginia, E.L. Katz’s Small Crimes, Sofia Takal’s 2018 reimagining of holiday horror classic Black Christmas and Vampires vs. the Bronx directed by SNL alum Oz Rodriguez for Netflix.
The brothers’ television work spans a wide range of projects including B.J. Novak’s The Premise for Hulu, Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories for Adult Swim and the Netflix true crime series Sins of Our Mother and Night Stalker, the latter earning the Blairs a 2022 ASCAP Screen Music Award.
The brothers operate Sheep Thief Records, a scrappy-as-can-be film music label, and write and produce music for various personal projects including doo-wop heroes The Whoopsie Dews featuring Grammy-nominated lead vocalist Vaughn Faison. They are based in Philadelphia, working out of their studio in the Bok Building.
